Beyond Ciudad Rodrigo, this 50.000 hectares privileged natural area is hidden. It is a landscape full of stones and rocks where we can point out the Gata Mountains and its 1.592 metre main summit, the Peña de la Canchera.
Montemayor del Río Castle
Known as San Vicente Fortress, the origin of the castle dates back to the XIII century. However, the current site was finished two centuries later.

For those who come to Ciudad Rodrigo at Easter, on Holy Saturday, a singular folk festival is celebrated. It was declared of regional tourist interest.
The Reception Centre for Visitors of the Veton Territory
The Reception Centre for Visitors of the Veton Territory is located in Lumbrales
It is a Modernist Portuguese-colonial style building, which was built between 1875 and 1877 to honour Princess Isabel, Alfonso XIII´s daughter, on the occasion of the Duero railway opening.
La Armuña Lentil
To the north of the capital is situated La Armuña, an ideal region for cereal and pulse crops due to its rich soils. Among these products, the lentil excels as proved its Protected Geographical Indication.
Yecla de Yeltes Fortified Settlement
The fortified settlement of Yecla de Yeltes, also known as “The Castle”, is located 2 km far from the village of Yecla, and it is one of the most amazing pre-Roman fortifications in the Iberian Peninsula. It was occupied for a long time and perhaps it was originally called Virlanga.

During the summer season, also, the province of Salamanca offers interesting cultural activities such as Feria de Teatro of Castilla y León, held in Ciudad Rodrigo.
